• Jan 1st: Public holiday


MARCH


• Grand Prix Monterrey Cart Series. The Serial Cart is the maximum expression of international racing where some of the greatest track racers have been born. Monterrey, the City of the Mountains, hosts this transcendental event, lasting three days, in the Cintermex especially converted into a racetrack for this purpose, located inside the Fundidora Park.

APRIL

MAY


Monterrey Agricultural and Commercial Fair. This is a week-long Agricultural Fair that begins on May 20 with bullfights, horseracing and local dances. Typical regional products on display are for sale as well.



JUNE


• Hípico La Silla International Horse jumping Contest (June-July)

SEPTEMBER


• 16 Sep. Independence Day. Public holiday celebrated throughout Mexico with grand parades. In Monterrey a fair is held with popular food, games, parades and the official “Grito” (yell) of “Viva Mexico”.
• National Prodanza Congress
• Expo Monterrey - An annual trade and cultural fair in Monterrey.



OCTOBER


• Book Fair held in October
• Bullfighting Festival (Octubre – Noviembre)
• Internacional Santa Lucia Folklore Festival. The twelve nations of Argentina, Brazil, Costa Rica, France, Greece, Italy, Latvia, Mexico, the Philippines, Slovakia and the Ukraine group together in a cultural Expo to display their popular traditions. The events take place all within the vicinity of Monterrey in the municipalities of Monterrey, San Nicolas, Santa Catarina, Guadalupe, San Pedro, Escobedo, Linares, Sabinas Hidalgo, Santiago and Garcia. The main auditoriums are those of San Pedro Garza Garcia and the Teatro de la Ciudad.


NOVEMBER


• Barrio Antiguo Cultural Festival. Features concerts, performances and conferences which all take place in the clubs and establishments inside Monterrey's 'old town' (Barrio Antiguo). More than 300 national and international cultural events take place, including dance, film and painting as well.
• Day of the dead Celebration. Altar exposition for the dead with offerings.



DECEMBER


Monterrey Marathon.
• Desfile de los Caramelos
• Virgin of Guadalupe Festival. Festival of the Virgin of Guadalupe, patron of Mexico. Hermosillo has processions and festivities to commemorate this day.
• 16-24 Dec. Las Posadas. Each night the faithful re-enact Joseph and Mary's search for posada (shelter) on their journey to Belen. For the less devout, it's an excuse for a party. Many hotels and restaurants hold their own posada festivities.
